Long Term Athletic Development Program (LTAD)

Junior AthletesThe LTAD approach, coined by Istvan Balyi, focuses on having juniors perform age-appropriate skill acquisition drills to maximize their athletic potential.  It progressively gets more complicated and more specialized as the young athlete progresses and reaches the next level of development. Research shows that chronological age is generally not a good indicator on which to base athletic development models for junior athletes aged 10-16 years since there is a wide variation in the physical, cognitive and emotional development in this demographic.
